5 Things You Need in Your Wardrobe for Spring

5 Things You Need in Your Wardrobe for Spring

The winter chill is finally starting to move on and, in a matter of weeks, daylight will stretch into the early evening and the sun will project its warmth on our shoulders. Yes, spring is almost here and of course, that means it’s time to update your wardrobe. If you’re not sure what to do when it comes to editing your spring wardrobe, start with these five staple pieces and you’ll be stylishly ready come September 1st. This post is in collaboration with PureModa.

Floral

A spring wardrobe is not complete without a splash of floral, whether it’s bright and bold or muted neutrals. Floral prints and spring go hand in hand. If floral isn’t normally your thing, opt for accessories such as a scarf or tote rather than a complete flower power look from head to toe.

Lightweight Blazer

If you work in the corporate world or prefer to keep your everyday look clean and sophisticated, a lightweight blazer (or four) will be your best friend in spring. Throw one on over a singlet and skirt combination for the office, or dress up your jeans with a structure blazer for a dinner date. Go for a classic hue such as black, grey or white, or experiment with graphic patterns like the August Street blazer from PureModa below.

Denim Shorts

Spring is the start of the short shorts season, so update your collection with a new pair of denim cutoffs that you’ll no doubt live in from now until March. Denim shorts are a staple wardrobe piece for winter, so find a pair that fits perfectly, is a comfortable length and makes you feel good. Splash some tan on your pins, pop on a white tee, spray some sea salt beach spray into your hair and you’ll ooze summertime vibes before the season officially rolls around.

Metallics

There’s no such thing as too much metallic, so opt for shiny bling or a statement piece of clothing that will make you shine bright. Pops of metallic, such as gold, silver, copper and rose gold will instantly update a little black dress and finish a special occasion look. If you’re feeling experimental with your spring wardrobe, opt for a metallic skirt or a statement neckpiece in your favourite hue. Yay, my Fav!

Sandals

After months of thick socks, stockings and boots, it’s finally time to ditch the layers and pop on a pair of sandals and show your feet the shining sun. Check out the new styles at the beginning of the season and invest in a good pair in a classic colour that you can wear for every occasion, from a garden party and weekend shopping trips to brunch with the girls or a stroll on the esplanade. Don’t forget to treat yourself and book in for a pedicure before you debut your new kicks!

The most important thing about spring fashion is that it’s fun, so mix and match your basics with a splash of metallic and floral, and update your collection with a few new staple pieces. It really is that simple!

Are you looking forward to the end of winter? I sure am!
