A Golden Celebration!

Last week marked a very special occassion for our family!

My parents celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary.

This year is full of big celebrations for my family. In addition to their Anniversary, mum is turning 70 and dad is turning 80!

So we did not have a big party for their special day. We are hatching plans for a special birthday party later in the year.

Instead, we do what our family does best, we ate and drank our way through a lovely weekend together.

My brother made sure we had suitable bubbles for such an auspicious day. No cheap and nasties allowed.

My parents made the very clever decision to leave the hussle and bussle of Brisbane and retire up on to the Sunshine Coast. So we headed to Noosa on a very balmy night to have dinner at Locale. A delightful restaurant that was jammed pack full. Traditional Italian and Modern Queensland are combined together in their extensive menu. These scallops simply melted in your mouth. Locale offers an awesome selection of wines, and a Mt Difficulty Pinot Noir was a beautiful accompanyment to our food. Just wish I would have had room for dessert….I want to know what creme patissiere filled Italian doughnuts with berry coulis and vanilla bean gelato would have tasted like…..sigh…….

Very blessed to have parents that have reached this special milestone.

It was lovely to have our little family get together and enjoy a special night out. It is a big year for us this year and I think we are going to have a lot of fun. 🙂

Have you got any special family celebrations happening this year?

  1. How fabulous.
My Mum and Dad have been married for yonks also and my Mum celebrated her 80th this year too.
How lucky we are to have our gorgeous, wonderful parents and family to share special occasions with.

  2. Congrats and well done to your folks! No big birthdays or anniversaries for us this year BUT we’re looking forward to our 25th wedding anniversary next year – fingers crossed it may be our first trip to Europe too!!!

  3. What a fabulous milestone, congratulations to your parents.
I’m turning 50 this year, and I’m not really sure how I feel about it. But I don’t feel “old” so I guess that’s a good thing 🙂
