Feng Shui For Christmas – How Your Decorations Can Increase The Peace Not Add More Chaos!

Christmas is a joyous time of celebration, but it can be very stressful with so much to organise!

Did you know that your decorations can add to the stress in your home or that with careful placement, you can use your decorations to increase the harmony by enhancing the energy (chi) in your home! So before you go putting up your tree on December 1, have a look at where you will be putting your tree and use the following to help pick the colour scheme that will increase happy tidings.

Firstly you need to work out which compass direction governs the area where you will be placing your tree. Simply stand in the centre of your home using a compass (smart phones have one built in) and check which area applies and then use the following guide to help you choose the perfect colour scheme for your decorations this year.

NORTH

The North area of your home governs Career, and represents Water, so fill your tree with decorations of blue and black, and wavy edges that represent water. You can also enhance your scheme with off whites and cream. Try and avoid the shades of Earth which includes all Browns.

NORTH EAST

The North East sector of your home governs Self Knowledge and Education, and represents Earth, so your tree should be covered with Browns, Yellows so Terracotta decorations would be perfect, also pretty crystals can be used successfully. White can also be used so that would be perfect for tinsel. Avoid Wood in this area so no other plants except the tree.

EAST

The East is the area for Family and Health, and represents Wood, so use as much Green as you can to represent growth. Adding Blue is also useful as Water supports the healthy growth of plants. Lot’s of lovely round baubles is perfect as they represent a ‘healthy’ tree producing vibrant fruit. Try and avoid Metals in this area, so leave the tinsel off the tree.

SOUTH EAST

The South East is the Wealth corner of your home, so with all the extra strain on finances at this time of year, it is very wise to look after this area to support and not drain your supply. South East energy is also Wood, so the same as the East, lot’s of green and blue and definately avoid Metals.

SOUTH

The South of your home supports Fame, Recognition and Social Popularity and is represented by Fire, so Red, Red and more Red is the answer for your tree. Purple is also suitable and a little Orange if you like. Birds work well in this sector. Definately no Blues at all in this area is very important.

SOUTH WEST

The South West of your home governs relationships and is also the Mothers Zone, so please take care to enhance your fortune by looking after this sector. The energy here is earth, so browns, terracottas and yellows work best. Beautiful crystals will be right at home in this area, clear crystal quartz is very enhancing. A pair of red candles will help ignite passion!

WEST

The West is represents Children and New Projects, so to keep the children happy this Christmas, completely adorn your tree with anything and everything Metal. This is the place for all the glittery bits you can find, and you can also use anything White. Bells are also helpful. Avoid anything Red in this area.

NORTH WEST

The North West is important for Mentors and Networking and encouraging Helpful People to enter your life and is governed by Metal as well. So again include everything round and metallic that you can find. Creams and off Whites will also work. Anything round and shiny will benefit this area.

If you have your heart set on a particular colour scheme for your tree this year and it clashes with the sector you are planning to put it, seriously consider moving the tree. If you decorate your house from top to toe, the above guide works, it’s not just for your tree.

Wishing you all a very joyous festive season!
