5 Ways to Exercise at Home
Everyone knows that exercising is great for good health. Moderate exercise is better than no exercise. Every little bit of exercise really helps! Gym memberships can be an ongoing expense so, provided you have the commitment, exercising at home will be just as effective. You won’t have the expense of fancy gym clothes and if your time is limited, you can exercise at any time that suit you.
Join an online exercise program
Many companies provide exercises that you can join online. There are also apps that will take you through entire exercise challenges. Many online membership programs are free and will take you through an entire exercise and diet program. The program will provide you with menus, a shopping list and a daily exercise plan.
Make those TV ads work for you
If you are a bit of a TV addict and feel guilty about watching all your favourite programs and doing little exercise, then make those boring TV advertisements work for you! As soon as an ad comes on, get out of your comfy lounge and do some squats, planks or star jumps. This will make you realise how long those ads actually go for! Short bursts of intense exercise have proven to be beneficial for health. Drink plenty of water but try to avoid snacking when the ads finish!
Use equipment
There is an enormous range of electric exercise equipment that you can purchase for home use. You can also purchase weights, an aerobic step or a skipping rope for at home exercise. Set yourself a target of repetitions and you will see results in no time. Be imaginative and just use what you have in your home. Your own stairs can be used for step exercises and you can use a chair for tricep dips.
Put on a video
There are some great exercise DVDs on the market. You can choose from yoga, Pilates or exercise dance DVDs. These are great if you are the type of exerciser who needs to be pushed. Even though you are doing your routine at home, you will still need to keep up with the instructor on the DVD.
Swim
If you are fortunate enough to have a pool at home, swimming will bring you many benefits. For sufferers of asthma and arthritis, swimming is a low impact exercise that will help with joints and breathing problems. For health reasons, always make sure your pool is kept clean and sparkling. Have a look at this URL for ways to improve the cleanliness of your swimming pool.
When exercising at home, just remember you are still putting impact on your body. So even though you can exercise in your pyjamas if you want to, you will still need the correct supportive footwear. Also remember to keep well hydrated. Just because you are exercising at home doesn’t mean you won’t work up a sweat! Always do some stretches after any form of exercise to avoid cramping.
