These Are A Few Of My Favourite Things!

Where to start, the list is veryyyyyyyyyyy long!

I have many things that I love, and are truly passionate about… here goes, my loves in pictures!

This covers the most important things in my life, my two girls and my best friends. Miss 17 and Miss 13 are my reason for living and laughing. This pic also includes one of my besties that I have been friends with for 34 years!

Spending time with mum, dad, my brother and sister in law, always involves great food, bubbles, wine and good times, blessed to still have both of my parents who retired up to the Sunshine Coast, so I have a permanent holiday home at the beach to visit whenever I like, good stuff!

I love shoes, and have lot’s of them, that these are also in my favourite colour, the hottest of hot pink, makes them perfect!

Life without good coffee, is no life at all. I love coffee as long as it is not the instant variety. Our coffee machine works overtime in this house, as both my girls are into coffee. I don’t mind tea either and will often start my day with a Tetley’s or something yum from T2.

Chocolate and I are the best of friends, thank you very much Mr Cadbury and all the beautiful European deliciousness and the creators of marzipan and everything else in between.

Books, books and more books, just can’t get enough. Reading, learning and flipping through glossy magazines is my favourite way to enjoy some down time. Very rarely will a novel be in my hands, I love to learn, so non-fiction piles up high on my bedside table!

Heaven on earth in my eyes involves a beach, a pool or a pond (preferably with a 5 Star Resort attached to it – no camping for this little black duck). Adore the water and a holiday just ain’t a holiday for me unless water is a major player. After travelling the world with my family and being a corporate travel consultant for 13 years, I have seen my fair share of beautiful water wonderlands, and I love everyone of them.

Aromatherapy is my go-to medicine, relaxant, fix just about anything joy! You will often find me dripping and dropping my favourite blends, for my health and happiness. Pure essential oils are an important tool for me and my girls.

I could go on forever, but had to stop somewhere!

Thanks For My Addiction To……Reading!

If my laptop is not on my lap, I have a book or magazine in my hands!

For as long as I can remember I have been addicted to reading, even as I child I always had a passion for reading and can not tell you how many times I read ‘The Faraway Tree’ by Enid Blighton. The amazing fantasy world she created just did it for me.

If I could I would subscribe to just about every magazine that makes it’s way on the the shelves. I love the thick glossy paper, alluring photo’s, snipits of information, glorious recipies, amazing clothes, devine hand-bags, or beautiful rooms. When I have a few minutes to spare I just open a magazine.

BUT like all addictions, they come at a cost! Books and magazines are expensive little monsters to buy if you enjoy them at the rate I do. Thankfully, only 5 minutes from home is my saving grace……the local library!

When ever I enter the doors, I leave with just as many books and magazines as I return.

I very rarely read novels, I have a never ending desire to learn, so I am more the self-help guide, recipe, craft kinda gal….I loved the ‘Harry Potter’ series and the ‘Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ collection, but that about as far as my novel reading has progressed over the last few years.

Yesterday’s visit to the library saw me bring home a haul not to dissimilar from this pile.

I got 12 magazines, of which 5 of them are March ’13 editions, and some a few older. It does help if you know what days your favourite magazines are released, as I often visit the library the following day, so the brand new ones are there for you to read (but you are not allowed to borrow) and the previous months hit the shelves for borrowing. Sometimes I get it just right!

If I hear about a book that someone else has suggested as an excellent read, I go straight to the library website and see if it is available, if not I put a hold on it, and they send me an email to let me know it is ready for collection for the pricely sum of 60 cents, absolute bargain.

When I borrow a book that I fall in love with and MUST own, I head straight to Ebay and I can almost always score a copy at much less that normal retail, and about a week later I am the proud owner of that book, yay!

When the girls were younger, the library was a god-send, we would borrow so many wonderful books for them to consume and as their tastes changed and matured, we had access to them, without having a huge collection that no-one was ever going to read again in our house.

I just love the library and feel it is one of the best services the council offer, don’t know what I would do without it!

Do you use a local library to provide an infinite source of reading pleasure, and what is the best thing you have read of late that I can add to my list?

Author Blog Challenge – Day 4 – Loves And Loathes

Well I have made it to Day 4 and not missed a post, I am usually good at starting these things, but life gets in the way! Was so tempted today too not post, after receiving some news that shocked and saddened me, but decided that I have no control over this nor is there anything I can do about it. Not dwelling in that zone seems like the best choice for me right now!

When it comes to what I am reading, the books around me fall in to just a few catagories and the rest have no room on bedside table….

  • Self Development/Self Improvement – We are the ‘authors’ of our own lives and I am making mine the best possible.
  • Historical – Facinated with time gone by, ancient history especially.
  • Business/Success Stories – Love being inspired by the success of others.
  • Harry Potter
  • Magazines – Totally addicted to magazines and would love to subscribe to every fashion, home, food, travel, business, investment or craft mag ever created, thankfully the library provides my ‘fixes’ for free!
  • The Sunday Newspaper – Too much newspaper reading, filled with too much bad news, not my choice for good reading, my homepage gives me all the latest headlines so that I am not totally ignorant to the happenings in the world.
  • Health and Well-being
  • Cookbooks

  • Science Fiction
  • Fantasy (other than Harry Potter)
  • Western
  • War
  • Horror, Crime, Murder, or anything else that is going to make me sad or scared, real life can offer enough of that, don’t need to spend my precious reading time feeling depressed!

I adore reading and it really is one of my favourite ways to spend some time relaxing, I love every book that I own, and I really keep my local library busy with very extensive borrowing!

What is your all time favourite book?
