‘MAKING IT’ MAGICAL!

As the countdown continues, this weeks focus is on “MAKE IT’ – what can you start making now with so many weeks still up your sleeve, so that by the time December arrives, you have a stash of goodies ready to roll?

You don’t have to be the super crafty type to make wonderful Christmas gifts – if you can use a bottle of glue, brush on a bit of paint or sew simple stitches – you CAN make easy gifts that will be appreciated and treasured.

DECORATIONS –  Handmade decorations are a delight to receive and will grace a tree or home for many years to come. Depending on your craft skills, they can be as elaborate or as simple as you like. Get a group of friends together and organise a decoration swap party, everyone brings along two or more decorations that they have made and you swap with each other, and you get to take home a whole new collection of ornaments, to give or keep.

RECYLE – Boxes, tins, glass jars, just about anything can be given a coat of paint and the glitter treatment, covered in fabric or paper and be recreated in to something beautiful. Imagination is they key here. You can then fill these with matching goodies like stationary, home made or store bought treats or beauty products.

SKIN CARE/BEAUTY TREATS – Homemade skin care or bath treats are simple to make and lot’s of ‘recipies’ can be found online. Be a little creative with the packaging and you can easily make wonderful pressies for others to enjoy.

JEWELLERY – A quick trip to your local craft store will be provide you with a dazzling array of beads and bit’s that you can create simple but stunning bracelets and necklaces. Using your family or friends favourite colours, style their own unique piece of bling. Also great for the little girls in your life, they can never have enough trinkets.

CARDS – Handmade cards are so much nicer to receive that mass produced ones. Again, it does not matter what your skill level is, if you can use a bottle of glue, you can made your own cards. A trip to the craft shop or discount store will provide unlimited supplies of bits and pieces that can be glued to cards that are made with love.

GOURMET TREATS – Flavoured sugars, cordials, jams, relishes, sauces, and more, can be made in advance and stored safely away. Yummy treats are always welcome at Christmas and a back up of these sort of goodies are great for unexpected guests.
