Overcome Overwhelm – One Step At A Time

We all have times in our lives when we just feel completely overwhelmed with a circumstance or complete set of them that all like to show up at the same time. You then throw so much negative energy at the situation, by filling yourself with feelings of fear, stress and panic that will attract more of the same, just what you don’t want!

Now in a perfect world, you would be able to just take a few deep breaths, totally relax and all our problems would just evaporate into thin air. Unfortunately for most of us this is just not a possibility as we focus on worry and what ‘might’ happen if we don’t find an instant answer.

After a very tough year, last year, I am living proof of how we can get so stuck in the negative and how all the effort that went into stressing over the circumstances, completely blocked positive solutions from flowing my way. Time does heal all wounds and thankfully my belief in finding a better way to do things, has let me heal and start to move forward.

It is possible to break free of old frustrating, debilitating situations. The major part of the work is invisible and takes place within you. It all starts by making your next thought a tiny bit happier than the last one. Then another…and another…and another….and accepting the current situation for exactly what it is and breaking it down into tiny steps that you can take to work towards a solution. We all want quick fixes but the magic does start to happen when we focus on taking a small step in the right direction and our energy focus is taking action and finding solutions.

Starting right NOW, look at the big picture of the issue at hand, and find the first tiny step that can lead towards a solution. There is SOMETHING you can do……..

  • Who can you call?
  • Who can you write too?
  • Search the web for information
  • Visit a library or bookstore and let someone else’s wisdom or knowlege guide you
  • Make an appointment with a professional that can help you
  • Who can you forgive instead of blame
  • What old stuff are you hanging on too that really should be thrown out now
  • Create a positive affirmation starting with “I am now experiencing……..” that you can repeat over and over to help stop focusing on the negative
  • Be grateful for what is good, there is always something!

Each day as you undertake a small step in the right direction and congratulate yourself for getting started, your energy is focused on moving forward and then the Universe can match your efforts with more support, opportunities and positive outcomes…….what have you got to lose??

Welcome 2012 – Resolutions or Revelations?

Welcome to 2012, a brand New Year full of opportunities and possibilities. The wonderful new energy that abounds at the start of a New Year provides an opportunity to reflect on years past, honestly assess what really did and did not work for you and if changes need to be made, now really is the time to take steps in the right direction. If you change nothing, then nothing changes, and at the end of this year you will have the same collection of things that did not work for you.

So many people start January 1, with a hangover and a list of resolutions, and 99% of those people have already thrown then out of the window by the end of week one. Bad habits don’t form overnight, so don’t get disappointed when you can’t give up smoking, lose 10kg and and never eat chocolate again for more than 24 hours.

I prefer to reflect on what changes need to be made and welcome revelations, that taking small steps in the right direction help to break bad habits for ever and can help produce awesome results.

Grab a pen and paper and dedicate 15 minutes to list everything that was really good about 2011, and make sure you keep doing it! Then be truthful and list those things that you are upset, disappointed or really peeved you off. Then for each item on this list, try and pick 5 things, even if they are just really tiny steps that you can start implementing now to create positive change. Be gentle and a little forgiving, rather than being very hard on yourself if you don’t like what you see on your list.

Small steps can include reducing rather than eliminating chemical or food issues that need addressing. Going through magazines and looking for pictures of things you would love to have or look like. Going through recipe books and finding new healthier recipies. Opening a new savings account and depositing small amounts each week. Trying to find peaceful solutions to issues rather than always having to be right and digging your heals in and having another arguement.

At the end of each day, look at your list and give yourself a green tick or red cross if you took a step in the right direction. The month of January is a great time start moving forward and you will be amazed at the momentum created, if for this month you see more green ticks than red crosses. Most importantly CELERBRATE every little step that has a green tick, you are moving forward!

For the month of January, I will be sharing with you everyday, an awesome collection of fun and easy steps that can help you make 2012 your best year yet. I will also share how my list is progressing along!

A fabulous process that I use regularly when I want to instill change is a simple tapping technique that you can do anywhere, anytime. Tapping works on the same principals as accupuncture, but without needles!

With your fore finger and middle finger together, locate the ‘dip’ on your collarbone. Gently tap on this spot, whilst speaking outload the following affirmations. Work though them all, or just use the ones that resonate with you and the areas you would like to see change. Tapping helps to anchor the new and has a positive effect on energy flow, try it right now….

  • “I am excited about the wonderful opportunities coming my way”
  • “It is my birth right to have all my needs met”
  • “I am worthy of the very best in life and I now lovingly allow myself to accept it”
  • “It is safe to give and receive love”
  • “I eat healthier food every day”
  • “I consume less and less sugar each day”
  • “I smoke less and less everyday”
  • “I am growing my savings for investment more and more each day”
  • “I enjoy exercising more and more each day”
  • “My clothes fit better and better each week”
  • “I listen to my heart not my head”
  • “I am grateful for all the blessings in my life”
  • “All is well”

Wishing you all the best for a wonderful New Year and may all your dreams come true.
