How To Stock Your Freezer To Save Time And Money – Frugal But Fabulous Friday

Your freezer can be filled with an abundance of wonderful food that can save you time and money!

With a little planning and 3 simple tools it is possible to dramatically reduce food wastage, slash the need for takeaway and make menu planning much simpler.

All you need is SNAP LOCK BAGS / ICE CUBE TRAYS / PERMANENT MARKER!

Like most households I have a huge drawer of Tupperware and anonymous look a likes, but I have found using snap lock bags instead of bulky plastic containers that are often only 1/2 full, wastes so much space. I am not a fan of normal freezer bags as they are so thin and the products you put in them are susceptible to freezer burn very quickly.

Using smaller snap lock bags can also be very helpful for portion control. Freezing large quantities of one thing, means you need to defrost and use all of it.

ICE CUBE TRAY GEMS:-

Simply freeze any of the following in ice cube trays, then transfer the cubes into snap lock bags the next day and write on them in permanent marker (otherwise you will end up with a collection of bags and absolutely no idea what is in them).

  • Chicken/Beef/Fish/Vegetable Stock
  • Tomato Puree
  • Lemon Juice
  • Lime Juice
  • Orange Juice
  • Red/White Wine
  • Cream
  • Milk
  • Coconut Milk
