Happy Birthday Rachel

As I create the very first post for my blog, it is a very special day in our house, my ‘baby’ celebrates her 12th Birthday today!

As we always do in this house, our daughter’s Birthdays include a special afternoon tea that we share with family and friends followed with a party for friends next weekend. All the cleaning, polishing, cooking, baking and setting up is done and we now just await the arrival of our guests.

BUT, this year is very different from all the parties in the past, this is the first time I have had to do all the preparation myself. After 23 years of marriage, earlier this year it all fell apart. With much hesitation I sent out the birthday invitations, wondering if I could do this all myself, but as I hit the ‘send’ button, I knew I could do it, and even though there will be a different feeling to the whole day, it is all working out for the best and my daughter is still going to have her special day.

I sit here now in joy and gratitutde that everything is done and we are ready to party and celebrate this very special day.

Happy Birthday Bubby, this is your day and I love you with all my heart, and I hope you enjoy it too the full.

    1. It is not always easy, but fortunately my two girls are teens and way beyond amazing. So much easier than if they were still so young and dependent. 🙂

  1. How do you feel when you look back at this? You’ve come a long way, and it’s been an interesting journey, no doubt.
I’m loving this first post business as it’s such a reminder for us all, isn’t it?

    1. Can still remember the pain, but some pain is worth it so you learn the lesson and move on from what is not good for you. I am just a bit stubborn like that, the universe has to throw a mountain at me, before I will step over a pebble. 🙂

  2. It’s amazing the strength that we find to continue on when things fall apart. I can only imagine that two years later there has been plenty of ups and downs.

    1. Blogging is one of the things that kept me going, it’s a bit like drugs, I am so addicted now, can’t stop! 🙂

  3. I bet you’re so glad you went ahead with it despite the uncertainty you must have been feeling at the time. Well done on a very brave first post!
